He's one of the most competitive men I've ever been associated with in my life. He gave us the structure we were lacking. "When he came in he was unbelievable," Osbon said. Then-assistant Ken Osbon took over in '92 and has been there ever since. Busching stepped down following that stressful experience. The Green Wave were undefeated through six games until an ugly brawl with rival Portsmouth at Dunaway Field led to numerous player suspensions and short-circuited Dover's once-promising season. Dunn remained on Busching's staff through the 1977 season and coached with him again in 1991 when Busching returned to a struggling program for what turned out to be a one-year cameo appearance. He brought in new ideas and the kids all seemed to respond."īusching, a New Jersey native who was elected to the Dover Sports Hall of Fame in 1995 as a contributor and spent part of his tenure at Dover as the athletic director, also gave Jim Dunn his initial coaching job at Dover in 1969. "He was a great motivator," said Gary Tuttle, who played for Dover in the 1960s.
